About

Wooden vessels and wooden accessories

We take wood from the mountains of Hokkaido and make vessels. It is a job that connects the mountains and people. We take wood from the mountains and connect it with people. We also care for the mountains and nurture the trees. By cutting down the right amount of trees, the mountains can breathe and young trees can grow.

Wooden products bring moments of relief to our lives. The soft, warm feel of a wooden vessel brings a sense of gentleness to our busy daily lives. The color of wood is similar to the color of human skin. Another commonality is that wood comes in a variety of colors, such as white and black. Perhaps this is why we feel so close to wood.

Making wooden vessels is a job that connects big and small perspectives, which is important for both the mountains and people.

Takahashi Crafts

Founded in Asahikawa in 1965 by woodturner Shoichi Takahashi, the company initially produced furniture legs (decorative columns). With demand for furniture declining, the company began producing lathe-turned cups and sugar pots in the 1980s, becoming one of Asahikawa's original wooden tableware manufacturers. They primarily use wood species from Hokkaido to create simple yet functional tableware. Kami Glass, for example, is a flagship product that makes the most of the texture of wood while showcasing a modern appearance, blending naturally into modern lifestyles. Takahashi Hidetoshi has been the company's representative since 2009.
